Topological optimization of tools for productive machining
Original language description
This report deals with the testing of "Kraken" tools in the metal additive manufacturing laboratory of the Regional Institute of Technology. The research concerns the testing of three new variants of the cutter marked "Kraken" - VIP, TechSIM and Kompozit, and the original version of the cutter was also included for comparison. All these cutters were produced by the PBF-DMLS method and subsequently subjected to additional machining. As part of this various research, several experiments were carried out in which two types of materials were machined - nickel superalloy Inconel 718 and hardened steel 19 313 with a hardness of 57÷60 HRC. The test results showed that the "Kraken" tool is effective and reliable in milling these materials. The changed topologically optimized design of the cutter can bring improvements in terms of the quality of the machined surface and the elimination of acoustic emission. This part of the report examines how it meets the stated requirements and whether they achieve the expected results. The experiments performed serve to assess the functionality and effectiveness of the tool in practice.
