The paper contains the principal features of the research programme for building complex mathematical apparatus that enables theoretical investigation of the overvoltage phenomena occurring under extraordinary operation conditions on the hv/vhv overheadlines or in systems transistor PWM invertor - long cable - induction motor. All these cases consider transfer medium that is continuously distributed in space. Voltages and currents in transmission lines can be described by a system of partial differential equations of hyperbolic type. Voltages and currents in the feeding and loading systems can be described by a system of ordinary differential equations. In this article is created mathematical model and algorithm for numerical solution of above described problems. The theoretical analysis is supplemented by simple illustrative examples.
