Original language description
The paper offers an algorithm for modelling the induction heating and consequent hardening of a circular saw manufactured from ferromagnetic steel. The basic model consists of two non-linear second-order partial differential equations describing the distribution of the electromagnetic and temperature fields and partially respects the temperature dependencies of all material parameters. This model is supplemented with a theoretically empirical algorithm providing the resultant field of hardness as a function of the velocity of cooling. Computations are performed by means of program OPERA and a number of single-purpose user procedures developed and written by the authors. The methodology is illustrated on an example.
