This document is focused on new communication inter-faces and standards for a new generation of power grids. This goes also along with new methods of controlling and measuring in the grid. The new featured grids are often called Smart because of their ability to communicate interactively. The ZigBee Smart Energy Profile is such an interface and it is able to provide the Smart functionality and responses from the power grid. Even the profile is more than one year old there is still no implementation in the Czech Republic. The Profile is the set of standard functions which could be easily implemented into the grid and pro-vide basics for Smart metering or load management etc. The point of the document is to provide basic informa-tion about the ZigBee technology, wireless standards and synergy between the power grid and electronic device.
