Monolithic Model of a Thermoelastic Friction Clutch with Permanent Magnets
Original language description
A novel thermoelastic friction clutch is proposed and modeled. The friction force between the driving and driven parts is produced by a mechanical stress brought about by thermoelastic dilatation of the internal element that rotates in magnetic field generated by two sets of segmental permanent magnets arranged in the internal and external rings. From the physical viewpoint the task represents a highly nonlinear triply coupled problem characterized by the interaction of magnetic field, temperature fieldand field of thermoelastic displacements. Its numerical computation in a monolithic formulation is carried out by own code base on a fully adaptive finite element method of higher order of accuracy. The methodology is illustrated by an example whose results are discussed.
