Influence of wind and solar energy on the frequency of switching operations of On-Load Tap-Changers
Original language description
Renewable sources are essentially increasing all over the world. Power feed-in of these sources such as wind or solar is very unstable and causes high variation in supply of energy. If the load in network increases (resp. decreases), the voltage decreases (resp. increases). To maintain the voltage in a specified constant level, the transformer is equipped with an OLTC (On-Load Tap-Changer). A wind or solar farm connected to such a network causes the variation of the voltage, and it consequently increases the number of switching operation in the OLTC. Nowadays, the frequency of switching during one single day was mainly influenced by a shape of a daily load profile, which was relatively smooth, and then the number of switching relatively low. The present trend is to involve more renewable sources in sharing of energy production. Thus, the power profile becomes more variable and the number of switching operations increases. This paper deals with the observing changes of power profile, wh
