The partial discharge (PD) behaviour of basic test arrange-ments for corona discharges or other discharge sources seems to be well known from the physical point of view. On the other hand the measurement results and, in the same manner, their identification and interpretation can be differ-ent depending on the measurement or evaluation condi-tions. Therefore some typical PD basic arrangements representing corona discharges like needle-plane, needle-plane with insulating sheet and needle-sphere as well as a gliding discharge set and several prepared generator bars were investigated. The PD measurement was performed with a standardized measuring circuit according to the IEC standard 20670 but under different measurement conditions like frequency range. Additionally, the standardized PD quantities as the apparent charge q, the repetition rate n respectively the phase angle of PD pulses fí related to the test voltage were compared with the results of unconventional method Pulse- Sequence-
