    Optimization of Pre-Heating System for Edge Welding

  • Original language description

    An inductor of the pre-heating system for edge welding is optimized. The aim of the optimization is to reach the prescribed pattern of temperature along the place of the weld. The task represents an inverse nonlinear coupled problem. Its numerical solution includes FEM-based hard-coupled modelling of the magnetic and temperature fields in the arrangement and optimization based on appropriate genetic algorithms. The methodology is illustrated with a typical example whose results are discussed.
