This chapter deals with brief overview of Railway Signalling and Interlocking (RSI) systems and its characteristics, safety definition, safety integrity levels, methods of safety achievement, problems of safety data transmission and safety approval process. The main purpose of use of these systems is assurance of railway traffic safety that means prevention against railway accidents. There is rich experience with its design gained during more over than 150 years of its evo-lution. We believe that it canbe good inspiration for other systems increasing their resilience in disaster conditions.
