Use of nuclear spent fuel casks

  • Original language description

The study is focused on possibilities of utilization of casks for spent nuclear fuel. At first, there is examination of radiation situation of the spent fuel storage cask which is followed by the examination of thermal situation on the surface of the cask. The storage cask is designed to store 19 PWR spent assemblies. There can be generated maximally 17,75 kW of decay heat from 19 assemblies. The non analog Monte Carlo simulation was used to examine the radiation situation on the surface and around the spent fuel cask. Thermal analysis was performed via finite element method.
