Modified natural ester – prospective electrical insulating liquid

  • Original language description

Natural oils are divided into vegetable and mineral oils. Compared with vegetable oils, the mineral oils show better dielectric properties, however, they can be dangerous for the living environment and their flammability is higher. The vegetable oils are composed of natural ester molecules with a triacylglycerol structure. The mineral oils are a mixture of hydrocarbons produced from crude oil. Recently, additives in the form of dispersed nanoparticles, for example SiO2, TiO2, ZnO, Al2O3, are used for improvement of certain dielectric properties of mineral oils. Another way is how the dispersed nanoparticles will improve the dielectric properties of natural esters. This paper deals with modified rapeseed oil with dispersed adapted nanoparticles TiO2 and only its some important dielectric properties. The results showed that each analyzed dielectric property was improved beside real part of complex permittivity. Modified rapeseed oil with dispersed adapted nanoparticles TiO2 was evaluated as prospective electrical insulating liquid.
