The influence of nanoparticles in the epoxy resin on dielectric parameters and partial discharges

  • Original language description

The influence of nanoparticles (SiO2, TiO2, ZnO) in epoxy resin on the changes of the complex permittivity and the time to breakdown have been measured. Frequency dependences of the real and imaginary parts of complex permittivity were measured within the frequency ranges from 1 mHz to 2 MHz by a capacitance method. The 1 wt.% nanoparticles caused the decrease of the complex permittivity. At the study of the influence of temperature on the imaginary permittivity, α- polarization was observed. The characteristics of internal partial discharges in the cavity of the epoxy resin and its mixtures with nanoparticles by the Galvanic method have been measured, too. The partial discharge measurements were performed with the help of Phase Resolved Partial Discharge Analyzer. Nanoparticles significantly affected on the time of breakdown. The filler SiO2 had positive and fillers TiO2 and ZnO had a negative influence on time to breakdown.
