Influence of thermal degradation on the dielectric properties of polymer composites

  • Original language description

Electro-insulating materials are used in various types of applications. One of the most common application is electrical rotating machines, where it has the function as ellectrical insulation of coils. Commonly resins are used as matrix materials for layered composites used as complex electroinsulating material, but for evaluation which type of resin is better, we must conduct several experiments (dielectric, structural, mechanical etc.) that show the best candidate. This paper presents an experiment where three types of resins (epoxy, polyester, silicone resins) are submitted to thermal aging process under three different temperatures and compared to each other by their dielectric properties. Evaluation of these commercial resins are done mainly for possible future nanocomposite application.
