Implementation of FPGA and DSP combined algorithms for modular single-phase matrix converter with medium frequency transformer for traction drive application

  • Original language description

The paper introduces basic characteristics of the traction drive and the way how modern multi-system traction vehicle can be realized. The main aim of the paper is focused on using single phase matrix converter (1ph MC) as an input converter for medium frequency transformer. The control algorithm for switching of 1ph MC is described in detail and its functionality is verified in simulations and on real laboratory prototype composed of single phase matrix converter and a voltage source active rectifier. This paper describes the suitability of using FPGA and DSP combined algorithms for modular single-phase matrix converters with medium-frequency transformer for traction drive applications.
