This research report deals with comparison and basic electromagnetic design of machines suitable for e-mobility. It includes selection of prospective electrical motor types for defined technical specification with focus to induction machines and permanent magnet motors of various topology (surface mounted permanent magnet machines, interior permanent magnet machines with increased reluctance torque and axial PMSM). For selected machine types a simplified electromagnetic motor design considering defined technical specification is made to allow a comparison of selected motor types based on electromagnetic parameters and efficiency maps, making possible also rough cost evaluation and a summary of major trade-offs.
