    Part 3: Design and thermal performance evaluation of 3-phase shared core power inductor for Vienna rectifier

    The third part of 3-phase Vienna Rectifier Reference Design is focused to the design, and thermal performance evaluation of the power inductor. On the market we can found a lot of final products which are focused manly for low and medium power (from 100W up to few kW). But if we are designing a power supply with higher power (3 and more kW), an customized solution is needed from more reasons, as high power level, mechanical construction of final products (specific dimensions), or the cooling method – cold plate solution or water cooled chassis is more complex as for air cooled power supplies. This paper provides calculation of the power loss behavior of proposed power inductor alternative, while at the end of the paper, the results of the thermal simulations are presented as well.
