Prague synodic preachments, their legal resources and manuscript distribution. Several brief comment on the periphery of a large topic
Original language description
The chapter deals with synodal sermons. In the Middle Ages in the second half of the 14th and early 15th century launched the synodal sermons synodal meetings of priests, held twice a year in Prague. It describes the legal sources of these sermons. Only part of spoken synodal sermons has been preserved, moreover, without giving any date when it was uttered, and some even without the author's name. Only a few of the surviving synodal sermons until now garnered critical edition, which is a prerequisite condition that the sermons as a valuable historical source could be further studied. Among various authorities that were source of the synodal sermons belong also Civil and Roman law. Mostly on legal sources are based only two synodal sermons of Kuneš of Třebovle. In the synodal sermons of other preachers the links to the law appear only sporadically. At the opposite side was Jan Hus, that one of his synodal sermons took a sharp attack against Roman law.
