Archaeological survey and remote sensing revealed remains of more than 3km2 large area of the Assyrian and medieval town under the famous citadel at Arbil, North Iraq. Nearly all the remains have been obliterated by booming of the modern city. The results enable a substantial reconsideration of the history and importance of the North Mesopotamian residence town.
