Faces of Hatred - Contemporary Antisemitism in its Historical Context
Original language description
This book can be read as a set of case-studies on the various faces of anti-Jewish hatred. Its authors attempt to offer an insight into the phenomena of antisemitism from seven various contemporary perspectives. The authors of this book come from highlyvaried backgrounds, ranging from Christian theology and religious studies to political science, cultural anthropology and history. They attempt to grasp the phenomenon of antisemitism in its wider context, by focusing not only on its roots, but also on its impact and aftermath, as well as on the current trends and developments. The first two chapters are written from the perspective of theologians. Doc. Parush R. Parushev offers his reflection on the religious anti-Judaism, whilst Doc. Pavel Hošek attempts to respond to the many accusations of Jewish texts being hostile to the non-Jews. One of the earliest notions of the Jews being a distinct "race", including the first ideas of the "racial war", in the thought of British anatomist Robe
