Original language description

The study follows the beginnings of the pan-German movement and the first phases of the development of the Pan-German League. Its beginnings can be traced in the Habsburg Monarchy. Therefore the author at first assessed the activity of the pan-Germans in Austria-Hungary and analysed their influence on the development of the pan-German movement in German Empire. His next focus was the establishment of the influential political group Pan-German League. The core of the study deals with the question of the development of this organization in the years 1891-1908. The goal of the study was the assessment of the activity this League and to characterise its ideological program and its influence on German society and the policy of the imperial government.
