Is it a good idea to escape from prison? Lesson from the Czech republic
Original language description
A growing number of studies on prison escapes have analysed its contexts and escapee’s reasons but we still have very limited knowledge about time after release. Where do escapees go after their escape? How long will they spend on escape? Are there any differences between escapees based on particular factors like age? By whom are escapees recaptured? Using very unique data about prison escapes (reports of security accidents from prison service) in the Czech Republic, the author will answer a research question if prison escape is worth it. Analysis of time spent on escape, escape radius, the effect of age and more will be presented. Main goal of this presentation is to verify theoretical postulates about prison escapes on real data.
