Level of motion activity of czech adolescents in the context of their all-day regimen
Original language description
The motion/physical activity is an important part of behaviour of each person, and its decrease in all age categories is becoming a world-wide problem from the viewpoint of the prevention of civilization diseases and maintenance of health. The aim of the presented study was to analyze the level of motion/physical activity or inactivity of Czech adolescents by gender, and in the context of their all-day regimen. 91 probands in the age range of 16 to 20 years were involved in this research. To monitor the level of motion/physical activity and heart rate, ActiTrainer accelerometers were used by the students for duration of three days. To analyze the achieved results, the probands were divided by gender into two groups. The level of motion activity was monitored in the areas of heart rate, energy consumption, number of steps and amount of inactivity in the context of the all-day regimen, which was divided into 4 time periods (pre-schooling, teaching including breaks, and hours of physical education, values except physical education, and after school values). In most cases, the results showed significant differences in the motion behaviour of boys and girls in the context of their all-day regimen. A statistically significant difference in the number of minutes of zero motion activity (inactivity) (p = 0.0076) is an interesting finding, and the higher value by 65.87 minutes was ascertained in boys. The analysis of the results shows that the decreased level of motion activity in adolescents is an increasingly live problem; therefore, it is necessary to address intensively these points in question.
