Application of entropy for supplier-customer system complexity analysis - case studies
Original language description
Paper discusses a systematic approach for measuring supplier-customer relations operational complexity based upon entropy. Two types of supplier-customer systems complexity, i.e. a structural one, and operational one, are recognized in business economicsin general. Entropy can be adopted for measuring operational complexity of supplier-customer system hampered by variations in quantities and delivery times as well. The basic idea consists in defnition corresponding set of states monitoring various flowvariations, e.g. order-forecast, delivery-order, actual production-scheduled production, etc. Variation states are further categorized considering their severity with respect to control decisions being implemented. Some supplier-customer systems from selected Czech small and medium size enterprizes were investigated. The results are reported, and some particular problems with construction of problem-oriented data-bases are discussed in detail.
