    WATER SCARCITY: REGIONAL ANALYSES IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC BETWEEN 2014–2018

    Although more than 70% of the world&apos;s area is covered with water, the fresh water is only 2.5% of all water resources. Over the last century, water consumption has increased six-fold and is still increasing, with consumption of 150-200 liters of water per day per capita in Europe. The scarcity of drinking water is a problem that is addressed at national and international levels. Recent surveys between Czech republic population show that the most serious global problems are waste accumulation, water pollution, lack of drinking water and air pollution. This study is focusing on the problem with the scarcity of drinking water in the Czech Republic. First, it will be investigated how seriously the global problems in the Czech Republic are being evaluated with a focus on drinking water scarcity. Furthermore, a regional analysis of water availability in the Czech Republic and the possible causes of water scarcity will be carried out. Subsequently, selected socio-economic factors that could have an impact on the assessment of drinking water scarcity will be analysed. In the empirical part will be used data, which are provided by the Centre for Research of Public Opinion, specifically the microeconomic data from questionnaire surveys will be used, this data will be supplemented by selected statistics at the regional level provided by the Czech Statistical Office. The analysed time period will be between 2014 and 2018.
