    Evaluation of indentation fracture toughness of thermally sprayes coatings

    The presented paper is devoted to a determination of and experimental evaluation of the indentation fracture toughness of thermally sprayed coatings. Significant improvements have been made to increase the fracture toughness of ceramics, but brittlenesscontinues to keep ceramics from more widespread use. That is why our interest is focused on a study of mechanical properties of ceramics and cermets surface. For this purpose the Vickers hardness test was applied in a case when the material is surfficiently brittle and cracks occur in the corners of the indents. For better evaluatin of the intentation fracture toughness we have suggested experimental set for initiation of cracks extension due to the applied bending stresses.

    Článek se zabývá hodnocení indentační lomové houževnasti žárově stříkaných keramických a cermetových povlaků. Byla využívaná metoda vickersovy indentace a proměřovány trhliny vzniklé v rozích vytvořených vtisků. Metoda byla modifikována kombinací s ohybovým namáháním.
