Original language description
This paper describes improved segmental duration modelling in concatenative Czech text-to-speech (TTS) system ARTIC. We are working on increasing naturalness of the produced synthesized speech and one of the main research domains we are focused on is prosody. Segmental duration belongs to basic prosody features and has been previously solved in ARTIC by simple rule-based approach. The work presented in this paper presents the first solution to this problem using phoneme duration estimator based on Classification and Regression Tree (CART) approach.
