Anal Dilation During Labor
Original language description
The aim of this study was, firstly, to find the real prevalence and range of anal dilation among women in the final phase of the second stage and shortly after delivery, secondly, to evaluate if there is a difference in anal dilation between nulli- and multiparae, thirdly, to evaluate whether the current definition of perineal body length is applicable to the process of vaginal birth, fourthly, to evaluate if anal dilation (under pressure of the crowning head) changes the perineal anatomy, and lastly, to obtain anthropometric data for a larger project: Pilsner BEER (Pilsner Biometric Elaborate Episiotomy Research), which combines computational dynamic modelling of the perineal structures with the experimental anthropometric measurement.
