On the mathematical modelling of slip flow development in rectangular microchannels

  • Original language description

The present study is focused on analytical and numerical solutions of the first order gaseous slip flow development in microchannels with rectangular cross-section. The slip flow is assumed to be steady, isothermal, laminar and incompressible. The main output is the derivation of analytical solution for the hydrodynamic development of slip flow in a microgap between two parallel plates. This problem is described by the Oseen equation together with first order velocity slip boundary conditions at the walls and a uniform velocity profile prescribed at the inlet. The applicability of the Oseen flow model is examined by the numerical solution of the system of incompressible NS equations in 2D with first order slip flow boundary conditions. The FVM on unstructured quadrilateral mesh together with an implicit fractional step method is used. Further, the 2D numerical algorithms are extended into 3D and applied for the simulations of slip flow development in the 3D rectangular microchannel.
