Wave dispersion in homogenized Reissner-Midlin and Kirchhoff-Love plates with high contrast in elasticity
Original language description
We consider the problem of wave propagation in periodically heterogeneous plates of the Reissner-Midlin and the Kirchhoff-Love types with high contrasts in elastic coefficients. The homogenization method is used to obtain limit plate models which due tothe high contrast ansatz in scaling the elasticity coefficients of inclusions retain the dispersion properties in the limit when the scales (the characteristic sizes) of the microstructures tend to zero. The limit homogeneous structures present, for somewavelengths, negative mass density tensors . This means that there exist intervals of frequencies in which there is no propagation of elastic waves, the so-called band-gaps.
