Nonlinear Normal Modes in Gear Drive Dynamics
Original language description
The paper is in general aimed at investigating the steady-state solutions of damped rotating systems with parametric excitation using nonlinear normal modes approach. Firstly, it deals with gear drive modelling considering real gear face width and changing of teeth number in the gear mesh. Further, a more precise model of rolling-element bearing coupling is developed considering the rolling-element waveness. Both mentioned couplings are then characterized by internal parametric excitation. Secondly, normal nonlinear modes technique is employed to investigate the steady-state dynamic behaviour of the system with respect to the parametric excitation for different operational states which are given by rotational speed and external static loading of the system. To gain the nonlinear normal modes of a test gear drive with real coupling parameters, continuation methods for periodic solution are proposed and used.
