    The paper deals with wave dispersion in the periodically heterogeneous Biot medium We apply the homogenization approach which is based on asymptotic analysis. Dispersion curves are studied for a layered medium. Then a double-porous medium is studied using the homogenization-based analysis assuming large heterogeneities in the permeability coefficients; a new term in the upscaled wave equation is obtained.
