ONTOLOGIES AND ETL TOOL IN FREE SPATIAL DATA INTEGRATION
Original language description
The aim of this paper is to define and describe harmonization sub-processes connected with an integration of free spatial data sets. The first part is dedicated to theoretical aspects of spatial data harmonization. The following section is focused on introduction of integration approach based on domain ontology (describing different data sets and their properties) and application of knowledge derived from ontology in spatial data harmonization process with use ETL (Extract-Transform-Load) systems. Thisapplication of open-source and/or free technologies and tools is basic feature of introduced solution. Also this paper shows examples of harmonization developed in international projects (e.g. Habitats).
