Multiscale Modelling of Deformable Porous Media with Large Contrasts in the Permeability using Homogenization

  • Original language description

The paper deals with two scale modelling of fluid saturated porous media using the homogenization approach. It focuses on the materials which, at the mesoscopic level of heterogeneities characterized by a size ?, are featured by large contrasts in the hydraulic permeability, as the consequence of the underlying microstructure. The mesoscopic models considered in the paper represent the Biot continuum with periodic, or locally periodic material coefficients. The ermeability tensor is scaled by ?2 in subdomains occupied by the less permeable material which is associated with the "dual porosity". This paper records results of several authors contributions in this field. Namely, the homogenized models are presented, and the influence of the topology of the representative cell decomposition in the context of the dual porosity is demonstrated. Computational homogenization is explained for modelling the finite deforming porous material treated by an incremental formulation.
