On the ring speed ratio in floating ring bearings of automotive turbochargers
Original language description
Studying of the turbocharger dynamic behavior is widely discussed issue mainly in automotive industry. Rotors of turbocharges are rotating with very high angular velocities and therefore suitable dynamic performance of bearings has to be assured. A typical radial bearing, which is common in turbochargers, consists of a simple plain journal bearing with free floating rings. This paper deals with the numerical and experimental investigation of floating ring dynamics in the framework of turbocharger rotordynamics.
