The goal of this publication is to integrate the latest findings in experimental surgery and the progress in medical technology and biomechanics. Therefore it includes the current knowledge not only from the experimental surgery but also from the surroundings fields (physiology, experimental physiology, molecular biology and imaging). To replace or reduce the animal experiments it was included the part dealing with the new procedures in biomechanice which offers alternative experimental approaches with software modelling.
