Numerical simulation of free surface flows using a three-equation model for two-phase flows
Original language description
A three-equation model for two-phase flows and results of corresponding numerical simulations will be presented. This compressible two-phase model is suitable for free surface flow simulations such as breaking waves. It offers certain advantages and wider use in comparison with a shallow water models. The model is a simplification of seven-equation Baer-Nunziato model closed with Tait equation of state. It consist of mass and momentum evolution equations in conservative form and advection equation for volume fraction in non-conservative form. A developed numerical code based on finite volume method was used for solving test cases. The conservative convective numerical flux was approximated by AUSM scheme, an AUSM based scheme was used for spatial discretization of the non-conservative term.
