    IInfluence of Potting Geometry of Inserts Load-Carrying Capability in Sandwich Structure

    The work is focused on the determination of the load-carrying capability of two types of blind inserts with M5 and M8 thread installed in sandwich structure consisted of aluminum honeycomb core and carbon-fiber face sheets. The load-carrying capability was experimentally determined for the case of pull-out tensile test in the accordance of the ASTM standards. The numerical simulations were used for the comparison. The non-linear material models with damage were considered for the modeling of the main parts of the sandwich structure. The results from numerical simulations were compared with the experimental data in the form of the force-displacement dependencies. The parametrical study based on the variation of the levels of the potting radius of the blind inserts with M5 and M8 thread was performed on the computational model of the sandwich structure in order to increase the load-carrying capability of the inserts.
