Investigation of tilting-pad journal bearings with ball-and-socket coupling
Original language description
Mutual interaction between the rotor shaft and pads is described by nonlinear hydrodynamic forces. All pads of the tilting pad-journal bearings move independently. One of the most common ways of mounting pads to the ground is performed using ball-and-socket coupling. This contribution is focused on the appropriate modelling of the contact mechanics in the ball-and-socket coupling.
