Multibody modelling of complex gear transmissions with flexible bodies
Original language description
Gear transmissions are crucial design components of various medical devices developed by Siemens Healthineers. Within the scope of research, a methodology for computer modeling of gear transmissions has been developed using approaches of multibody dynamics. A comprehensive research report documents the step-by-step solution to this problem. Attention was initially focused on spur gears, followed by worm gearing. The proposed modelling approach is based on a spatial force model utilizing kinematic variables. The computer model was further expanded to include variable meshing stiffness, various gear errors, and shaft misalignments. A methodology for incorporating flexible bodies into the overall computer models of developed devices was proposed and tested.
