Elastic fibres in abdominal aneurysmatic aorta - image analysis by Fourier transformation
Original language description
The photomicrographs of tunica media of normal, atherosclerotic and aneurysmatic abdominal aorta were segmented according to the HSI values of image pixels. After tresholding the resulting image, another binary image file was gained, showing the 2D section through the three-dimensional network of elastin membranes. There were described the differences of the elastin, using the shape factors (length, elongation, area fraction, number objects) and Fourier transformation technique, which is very sensitiveto the orientation distribution and periodicity of the original structures.
