Original language description
A macroscopic approach is used to model heart muscle tissue. The tissue is described by a composite muscle model featuring various kinds of active and passive fibres developed recently by the authors. The usual incompressibility assumption is replaced by a simple model of blood perfusion through muscle tissue. The mathematical model is discretized using mixed finite elements. An introductory numerical example is presented.
