    The history of knowledge on phase transitions character has been outlined. Following 1933 Ehrenfest's classification of phase transition the proposal for classification of processes indicated by thermal analysis is introduced. The equations -analogous tothe Clapeyron and Ehrenfest ones- are derived to determine thermodynamic quantities accompanied with sharp and gradual transition. The equations utilize the slope of phase diagram curves. Similar equations are derived also for decomposition reactions under controlled atmosphere.
