    Models of temperature dependence for heat capacity of solids are recapitulated and the relation for heat capacity measured under controlled atmosphere (called isodynamical heat capacity which includes a heat associated with change of volatile componentscontent) due to heating of nonstoichiometric phase is derived. The equation determining the heat capacity contribution associated with the deviation from nonstoichiometry is derived and a procedure of its estimation (based on models of crystal defect equilibria) is proposed. Both the derived relations are illustrated on the nonstoichiometric magnetite.
