Three filament model od sarcomere
Original language description
The elementary contractile unit of skeletal and heart muscles is a structure called sarcomere. Sarcomere contains three filaments - myosin, actin and titin, which are the source of contractile activity and influence mechanical properties of muscles. Thefirst mathematical model capturing the sarcomere activity was proposed in 1957. Since then, various modifications of model were published to improve the original model. Till nowadays, one of the challenges of the model is the explanation of contraction called eccentric contraction. In original model, only actin and myosin were considered to actively contribute to the contraction. The third filament titin was considered as a passive part contributing just with its stiffness. Currently, it seems like thetitin has special properties and can actively attach at the actin. This property was added to the modified classical model. The results show that special property of titin can significantly contribute to the explanation of eccentric contr
