This is a retrospective study of drowning and near drowning in the Czech Republic for the period of 2001 - 2002. The monitored group consisted of people from all age categories. Groups studied were drowned individuals, near-drowned individuals who were hospitalized and near drowned individuals who were hospitalized and died in hospital.
