Psychological burden on nurses at trauma centres in the Czech Republic
Original language description
A trauma centre or an injury centre. The number of injuries requiring complex and multidisciplinary treatment apart from surgical therapy has been increasing recently. This is why nine trauma centres have been founded in the Czech Republic. Their foundation certainly increases demands on nonphysician medical staff. These are psychological and physical demands and of course demands for further education. Not only trauma centres, but other departments as well experience lack of nursing staff, not just nurses, but also lower healthcare staff, which results in excessive burden on nurses, overtime work and unclear roles and tasks distracting them from direct care about patients. All this has strong influence on nurse's psyche, stress occurs and after some time the burn out syndrome, conflicts and frustration develop.
