Goal:To map out the possibilities of increasing the nursing care safety by means of risk management, assessment of the organizational culture and the patient`s involvement in nursing process. The Department of Nursing and Midwifery, Faculty of Health andSocial Studies, University of South Bohemia, has prepared a grant project within IGA, Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic, which will be implemented for the time of three years, beginning in May 2013. This contribution will present the Project. Thecombination of qualitative and quantitative approaches based on theoretical solutions of the risk management introduction into practice has been found to be the best solution. The first part of the investigation ? The Analysis of the Most Frequent Causes of Undesirable Situations ? was performed on the basis of discussions with professionals (managers of health care facilities and nurses); and ten most risky processes associated with providing nursing care were identified.
