Original language description
Aleksander Rozenfeld (born 1941 in the USSR), a poet and a prose writer, cannot be considered as a recognised author in Poland, despite all the efforts of two of Polish writers Julian Kornhauser a Hanna Krall to make his work more visible. In literary circles he is perceived - if at all - as a figure connected with various anecdotical stories. In my earlier text Droga do tożsamości w twórczości Aleksandra Rozenfelda i Karola Sidona (available at: http://cl.ff.cuni.cz/holokaust/texty) I particularly tried to emphasize the question of Polish-Jewish identity, which is constantly present in Rozenfeld's works. In his strongly authobiographical texts Rozenfeld depicts his indirect experience of the Holocaust, especially in connection with national identity of the lyrical subject or the narrator. In his poetic collections Wybór wierszy (1976-1989) (1990) and Wiersze na koniec wieku (2000), as well as in his prose Prawo o podanie powrotu (1990) Rozenfeld makes an attempt to cope with the absen
