The Construction of Reality in Communist and Post-communist Czech TV Serials
Original language description
The article compares several Czech TV serials made under communism to those made in the post-communist era and comes to the conclusion that a number of features disseminated into Czech society by popular television serials under communism have survived until the present, although the post-communist construction of reality does differ in some aspects from that created by the TV serials in the communist post-1968 "normalization" era. The contribution also provides evidence that, like in Poland, Hungary, and Romania, the TV serials broadcast by communist television in the 1970s and 1980s, still remain highly popular in the Czech Republic and are regarded by many as an important part of the Czech national heritage and identity.
