Seal as an official symbol? From private personal seal of clergyman to the institutional seal of religious authority in the Czech lands at the turn of the 18th and 19th century.
Original language description
This article is focused on the changes in the use of seals at the turn of the 18th and 19th century in the religious sphere. It reflects the original privat character of clergyman's seal and its change to the official symbol of religious authority. This change was happend on the end of the 18th century as a result of the administrative reforms of absolutist state (during the reign of Joseph II) and it was fully demonstrated during the first half of the 19th century. As the first the Episcopal and Chapter's seals had the official character, than the seals of vicary offices and on the end the parisch seals, too.
